WWPT’s season opens with the Western Canadian Premiere of MOB by Catherine-Anne Toupin, translated by Chris Campbell.
Sophie has lost her job. Confused and hurt, she heads out of town looking for a way to assuage her rage and humiliation. Arriving at a remote B&B she is welcomed by Louise and her awkwardly charming nephew Martin. As it turns out, Martin and Sophie have a lot in common and quickly develop an unlikely connection. But in the borderlands, no one is quite what they appear to be. A brilliant new psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
This award-winning Edmonton creative team features Kristin Johnston, Graham Mothersill, and Davina Stewart, stage managed by Yvette Martens, choreography by Jason Hardwick, Fight & Intimacy Direction by Sam Jeffery, with technical director Ben Franchuk, a set designed by Beyata Hackborn, costumes by Sarah Karpyshin, lights by Alison Yanota, and sound design & composition by Darrin Hagen; directed by Heather Inglis.
Why Heather chose MOB
‘I’ve wanted to produce MOB since I encountered it in 2020. I when I read it, I couldn’t put it down, making me late for my evening plans. The play speaks to issues that are at the very center of our experience in the internet era where anonymity opens the door to behavior we’d never dream of in real life. MOB has been a red-hot ticket wherever it is performed.’
